The Rotary Club of Uptown Cubao (RCUC) in partnership with the Rotaract Club of Uptown Cubao (RACUC) and the Uptown Cubao Rotary Community Corps (RCC-Uptown) held a 2-day Brigada Eskwela and Children’s Party at its adopted school, the Maligaya Elementary School (MES) in Brgy. Pasong Putik, Novaliches, Quezon City last September 14 and 15, 2023.
More than 100 kindergarten kids and 60 students from the MES Special Education Program (SpED) with their parents were served meals during the two-day event.
Also distributed were sets of school supplies and hygiene kits much to the excitement of the kids who waited patiently and queued in line to get their sets. Volunteers from the Rotaract Club of Uptown Cubao led by PP Princess Silva and IPP Ian Tomaquin also shared a wonderful story during the Storytelling session.
Special numbers and surprises were also prepared by the kids showing their appreciation, including song and dance number, and the thanksgiving posters prepared by the kids from SpED program.
Also part of the event is the turnover of the Water Pump to supply water to the toilets at the 4th floor of the main building.
RCUC also launched the MES Online Learning Platform – an online portal for teachers to create their virtual lessons and hold virtual classes to students to support the school’s vision towards leveraging technology to create a hybrid learning environment, according to Hope Creating President Roel Abatayo.
The Online Portal will also allow students to publish their journals, graphics and creative writings online.
RCUC, together with RACUC will hold a series of Learning Sessions – which is part of the Project UPTOWN to teach both the teachers and students to use the MES Online Portal.
This Rotary Day of Service events were also supported by DGN Aiza Remedios, Brgy. Pasong Putik SK Council led by SK Chair Jara Mae Mantele, PP Maricar Mantele of RC Lagro-Asuncion, HostJoints Cloud Webhosting and Mamu Jhay Sumayo Pimentel of New Rivergold Marikina Resto & Bar.
