Written by 28-October-2023. The Rotary Club of Uptown Cubao through Hope Creating President Roel Abatayo joined the day of #Rotary service at Aeta community in Sitio Kawayan, Brgy. Maruglu, Capas, Tarlac with RC Diliman Central (HCP Maricel De Belen), RC Cubao Sunrise (HCP Maritess Marbella), RC Quirino (HCP Leigh) and lead club RC Cosmopolitan Cubao (HCP Doc Benjamin V Ganapin Jr.).
Food packs, powedered milk, hygiene kits, school supplies and clothes were distributed to over 300 residents including children.
Despite a grueling 2-hour travel to the community from Capas, Tarlac onboard 4×4 trucks making about 19 river crossings and traversing rocky bumpy unpaved road, the Rotarians from District 3780 were determined to reach the area and personally deliver the supplies.
Highlight of the event is the mini- sports fest where local residents – men, women and children were grouped into different teams competing in basketball, volleyball, badminton and football games.
Winning teams were given medals and children were treated with Bible stories, entertainment magic and appearance of #EndPolio mascot.
