On August 6, 2024, the Rotary Club of Uptown Cubao partnered with Maligaya Elementary School to conduct a meaningful Brigada Eskwela event focused on health, education, and student well-being. This collaborative effort served as a dynamic kick-off to the school year, addressing not just classroom readiness, but the holistic needs of young learners.
- Health and Hygiene Education: Building Habits for Life
The day began with interactive health and hygiene sessions designed to teach students the fundamentals of personal care. Teachers and Rotary volunteers led engaging demonstrations on proper tooth brushing and hand washing techniques, highlighting their crucial role in preventing illness and promoting daily wellness.
Students participated eagerly, practicing the correct methods and understanding the value of consistent hygiene. This initiative aimed to instill lifelong habits that support a healthy school environment and improve overall student well-being.
- Basic Education and Literacy: Equipping Students for Success
To support students’ academic readiness, the event also included the distribution of essential school supplies—notebooks, pencils, and textbooks—ensuring that all children, regardless of economic background, begin the school year with the tools they need to succeed.
This simple yet impactful gesture relieved financial pressure on families and motivated students to approach their studies with confidence and enthusiasm. By bridging educational gaps, the Rotary Club of Uptown Cubao reaffirms its commitment to Rotary’s core focus on Basic Education and Literacy.
- Special Feeding Program: Nourishing Young Minds
Recognizing the vital link between nutrition and learning, a special feeding program was held for kindergarten students. Volunteers and school staff prepared and served healthy meals to the young learners, ensuring they received the nourishment needed to stay energized and focused throughout the school day.
Beyond addressing immediate hunger, the initiative promoted healthy eating habits from an early age—setting the foundation for both academic and physical growth.
A Holistic Approach to Education
This Brigada Eskwela event reflects Rotary’s unwavering belief that education is about more than books and classrooms—it’s about supporting the whole child. From hygiene and nutrition to school supplies and literacy, every aspect of the program was designed to empower students, support teachers, and strengthen the school community.
The Rotary Club of Uptown Cubao thanks all the teachers, volunteers, and partners who made this event a success. Together, we continue to uplift communities through compassion, collaboration, and service.
